Terms of Service

Welcome to OneRenta. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the OneRenta mobile app, website and related services. OneRenta is a company registered in Nigeria. By creating an account, joining our waitlist, listing an item or renting an item, you agree to these Terms.

1. What OneRenta is

OneRenta is a peer to peer marketplace. It lets people who own luxury and designer fashion items ("Lenders") rent them to other members ("Renters"). OneRenta provides the platform, payments and support, but does not own the items listed by Lenders and is not a party to the item itself changing hands, except as set out in these Terms.

2. Who can use OneRenta

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Nigerian law. The information you give us must be accurate and kept up to date. We may ask you to verify your identity before you rent or lend.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us at support@onerenta.com if you think your account has been used without your permission. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

4. Rules for Lenders

• You may only list items that you own and that are genuine. Counterfeit, replica, "inspired" or stolen items are strictly prohibited.
• For luxury and designer items, you must provide proof of authenticity where available, such as receipts, certificates, serial numbers or authenticity cards. OneRenta may inspect an item or ask for more evidence before a listing goes live or at any time.
• If an item is found to be counterfeit, we will remove the listing, refund any affected Renter, and may suspend your account and report the matter to the relevant authorities.
• Your listing must describe the item honestly, including its size, condition and any flaws, with photos of the actual item.
• Items must be professionally cleaned where appropriate and in the condition described, with their dust bags, boxes and accessories where available, when handed to the Renter.
• You set your own daily price. You may accept or decline rental requests.
• OneRenta may review, edit or remove any listing that breaks these Terms.

5. Rules for Renters

• Rental periods are 4, 7 or 14 days, starting on the handover date in your booking. Extensions must be agreed with the Lender in the app.
• Treat items with care. Do not alter, wash, iron, repair, sublet, sell or lend any rented item.
• Return the item on time, in the same condition you received it, with any accessories or packaging.
• Late returns may be charged per day. An item not returned within 48 hours of the rental end may be treated as lost (see section 8).

6. Payments and fees

All payments are made through the app using our payment partners and prices are shown in Nigerian Naira (₦). Renters pay the rental price plus any service fee shown before booking. Lenders receive the rental price minus OneRenta's service fee once the rental is complete. We hold a refundable security deposit from the Renter until the item is returned in acceptable condition. Payments made outside the app are not covered by these Terms or our protection.

7. Handover and returns

Lenders and Renters arrange handover and return in the app, either by meeting in person or by delivery. Please meet in safe, public places and keep all communication in the app. Report any problem with an item in the app within [24] hours of receiving it.

8. Damage, loss and protection

Standard protection is included in every rental and covers minor spills, small marks and minor repairs. For significant damage, loss or theft, the Renter agrees to pay the repair cost, less any amount covered by protection. OneRenta will review evidence from both the Lender and Renter and work to resolve the matter fairly. Our decision on protection claims is final, without affecting your legal rights.

9. Cancellations

Renters can cancel a booking in the app. Cancellations more than 2 days before handover receive a full refund; later cancellations may receive a partial refund as shown in the app. If a Lender cancels, the Renter receives a full refund, and repeated Lender cancellations may lead to account restrictions.

10. Reviews and messages

Reviews must be honest and based on a real rental. Do not post abusive, discriminatory or misleading content, and do not use messages to share contact or payment details to avoid the app. We may remove content that breaks these rules.

11. Prohibited use

You may not use the Service for anything unlawful, to commit fraud, to harass other members, to list items you do not own, or to interfere with the app's security.

12. Our content and trademarks

The OneRenta name, logo and app belong to OneRenta. Designer names and brands shown in listings belong to their respective owners. OneRenta is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any designer or brand. By posting photos and listings, you give OneRenta permission to display them in the Service and our marketing.

13. Limitation of liability

Lenders are responsible for their items and listings, and Renters for their care of items. To the extent permitted by Nigerian law, OneRenta is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the acts of members, and our total liability for any rental is limited to the fees you paid to OneRenta for that rental. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 or other laws that cannot be excluded.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will tell you about important changes in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will first try to resolve any dispute informally. If that fails, the dispute will be referred to the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
